As church a leader, it can be easy to encourage people on the weekends or when they are already in the church building. Pouring into someone is not hard when you know where they are going to be every week at a fixed time and location. The problem with this is that it is not an investment. Making a personal investment in the lives of your leaders and potential leaders is a crucial step to take when it comes to their growth and development.

Personal investment into anything takes time. This is especially true as you are trying to invest in the lives of potential leaders in the church. When you think about the ministry of Jesus, he did not tell people to meet him at a place and time so that he could be the one who experiences convenience. Jesus knew how to make a personal investment into someone’s life by meeting them where they were. This is the attitude that you should have as you are making a personal investment into the lives of potential leaders.

Now on the surface, this seems like a great idea, but as you start to commit to investing your time and resources, there may come a point in which you are greatly inconvenienced. It may not always be easy to make a personal investment in the life of a potential leader. This is something that you can overcome and succeed through if you understand what can happen when you push through the potential risks. A potential leader can never become a leader of high capacity if you are not making a personal investment in their life.
