Here is a question: are you dependent on God? We often become so numb to the idea of full dependence on the one who created us. It is tempting for pastors to simply push this critical question aside and say, “I got it.” It is imperative that you do not fall into the trap of believing that your position in ministry defines your level of dependence on God. The reality is, even the most successful pastors often need a gut check on this topic. This video serves to unpack the necessity of dependence on God in ministry.
What does it mean to be dependent on God? Is there a formula or a rhythm to nail down? How can you fully depend on God and trust his omniscient wisdom? Over the course of this video, these are the types of questions we want to answer. Unfortunately, there are many different scenarios in which a church can be led astray from dependence on God without even realizing it. All of a sudden, pastors find themselves making decisions, writing checks, and resurrecting new buildings without the consultation of the one who allows it all to happen! This is not the practice you want to place on the leadership of your church.
So, we know that dependence on God in ministry is important when making decisions, but what else? Think about the last time you knew God was calling your church to take a step, before you found the resources to do so. These scenarios can be frightening. Dependence on God is crucial in these times. Remember, God is a God of provision in times of need. One of the names of God is Jehovah-Jireh, “the Lord will provide.”
