Oftentimes, when we are asked to give financially to a project or organization, our initial reaction is not excitement. Perhaps you begin to think of all of the reasons why this investment would not be a good financial decision. Maybe your mind begins to ponder all of the different purchases you could make if you skip this gift. With the realization that you think this way, how much more could your congregation think this way? The reality is, missions giving is not an easy thing to convince people to be a part of. In spite of this, you know as a pastor or church leader, that scripture tells us of the importance of giving. One of the ways that you should inspire your congregation in this area is by understanding and explaining the byproducts of faithful giving. What are these byproducts and how do they apply to the specific context of your church?

Before convincing your congregation to buy into a culture that values missions giving, you have to know why you are pushing it. Obviously, scripture that mandates financial generosity is the driving force, but there are also other byproducts to giving. When you fully understand the byproducts of missions giving, giving becomes less of a requirement and more of a privilege. When a pastor does not grasp these topics, the congregation will not either.

So, what are the byproducts of missions giving that you can look forward to? How can you take these byproducts and inspire your church with them? Perhaps you have been in a place in which inspiring missions giving is nearly impossible. Maybe this is due to the area your church is in or maybe it’s just not a culture you have set. Whatever the case is, it is imperative that you understand the byproducts of missions giving.
