As a church leader with a call to ministry, you spend a lot of your time attempting to become a better leader. As you do so, the amount of pressure to remain effective can be overwhelming. Leadership, especially within the pastoral world, is something that you must be willing to adapt for. It is something that you learn and grow in over a length of time. While you are attempting to become a better leader, we believe that there are some primary roles that you must adopt. These roles will ensure that your leadership is hitting the mark as you follow your pastoral calling.

When we think of skillsets, it is important to understand that skills are something that you learn. A skillset is not a set of traits that a leader has, rather it is a collection of abilities that are obtained through experience. As you go seek to improve yourself as a leader, it is important to pinpoint areas of your leadership that you can grow in. We would contend that these areas, when improved upon, create a leader’s ideal skillset for ministry. What are these skills that you need for ministry? Why are these skills important for your leadership?

Additionally, it is important that you are able to identify what it will take to achieve these goals and improve on these skills. Just like riding a bike or learning to play catch, these skills take time to develop. Once you get the hang of them, your ministry leadership will begin to thrive. What are the practices that will allow you to develop these skills? What are the specific skills you need to develop? You probably have a lot of questions, and we want to answer them in this video.
