How to Create Teamwork Among Ministry Leaders

We are all stronger together, and this series demonstrates the high priority of teamwork in ministry. If you are not building teams, you are missing the opportunity to unleash your leadership vision in people. This will prohibit them to see a greater potential for achievement than they could have even imagined as individuals. This is why you must create teamwork among ministry leaders.

When teams flourish, ministry grows and expands. The power of dedicated individuals who will selflessly pull together to serve others is a power worth growing and preserving. When teams achieve healthy and effective results, church leadership should invest in them. This will cause an increasing and enduring level of teamwork to be fostered. Creating teamwork develops a collective sense of emotional intelligence and persists for the long haul.

The term “creating” suggests that teamwork is not magical. It does not just happen, rather it is fostered over time. Teamwork, like anything else worth achieving or building, takes time. How often do you see a young inexperienced professional sports team win a championship in their first “rookie” season of participation? Large market baseball teams, like the New York Yankees have the financial resources to pay more veteran, experienced players, while small market teams may not have the same luxury.

Other smaller market MLB clubs cannot afford to create winning teams in that manner. The 2015 Kansas City Royals were a small market team than won the World Series, with a group of young players that had been practicing their craft together for the prior four seasons. In the 2011 season, they had almost 91 losses, but they also experienced 71 wins, from which they kept fostering and creating teamwork.  Church ministry values cohesion and teamwork all the same.
