Is there an exceptional sports team that you have admired? Consider the strengths of the coach or manager that causes players to function collectively in a tenacious, purposeful manner. A great leader can disarm conflict, communicate winning strategy, and move a group of individuals with a unified and expert approach.
In a church, the teams of paid staff, hospitality teams, creative teams, and support teams all require a leadership specialist capable of leading a particular team to cohesively function in the most effective manner possible. Yet, general leadership principles will apply across most team disciplines. A lack of leadership within teams creates dysfunction and disorganization.
Each leader should understand the leadership virtue of grace, and yet be able to lead and communicate so that team members follow in an organized and consistent way. Leadership training is of utmost importance. Persistent retraining is just as crucial, given that repetition is proven to be most effective in teaching leadership skills.
