Tracking Church Metrics

In this series, we are presenting lessons from a CEO. From that perspective, we have asked whether numbers and metrics matter, and the response is absolutely yes! We have also questioned the reasoning behind the need to monitor progress in the church and have concluded that the reasoning is both sound and exemplary.

Anything that you consider worth doing and continuing is worth measuring. If you choose not to measure, you will be leading by guesswork and not from reality. But not everything needs to be measured and observed in detail. When you fail to understand what metrics are important, or measure too much, that can be problematic as well.
Organizations which measure progress, or the lack thereof, are the ones found to be consistently improving. In business, leaders understand that what you measure is just as critical as the decision to measure success at all. Businesses look for key performance indicators. KPI’s are exactly what their name suggests – they are the key indicators of progress or performance. In this session, you will learn six key metrics of progress in a church or ministry. In essence, it is important to understand that successful organizations know exactly what to measure and how to interpret the information that is measured.
What makes metrics so effective in practice is that they are not just conceptual ideas, but actionable steps towards effectiveness. We are not wanting to be more business-like, we are desiring to be the best we can be at meeting the spiritual needs of people.

In this video:
